Quality Control Procedures and Continuous Improvement Process

At Printcrafters we pride ourselves on our Quality and the controls we have in place to ensure these standards we have set are met with Every Job produced. All of our departments have Check Lists to follow for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance.  

In our Prepress department, we ensure all equipment and systems are online all day and we control the proper storage of our plates and chemistry. Part of our daily routine is to monitor of the plate processor chemistry and calibrated if required, we make sure we're right on line all the time. Fog tests are produced on all new batches of plates as opened and adjustments are made to ensure we are within tolerance. Our proofing systems are monitored on a daily basis to ensure proofs are accurate from day to day.

The Pressroom ensures that all presses are in proper running order, clean and ready for the next job as it is scheduled. When a job is running on press, press sheets are pulled every 300 - 500 sheets, read, recorded and filed to ensure exactness of our Printcrafters' Standards that are set from start to finish of every job produced.

Bindery personnel count, check and review every order as produced and packaged during our on-line production. No defective book gets through our three-points of handling with-in the system, thus ensuring that the client gets the number of pieces ordered and at a quality level expected.

If a job is not shipped properly, then everything that has been done and produced up to that point is for not and with this in mind, our Logistics Team ensures that every carton is packed to standards, not over packaged, not under packaged. We ensure all cartons are identified and shipped to the proper location(s) as directed by you the client. Our delivery services are an extension of our production team and with this the final step in the process, they are the final piece in our process that upholds our High Standards and ensure the final product is delivered - On Time and in perfect condition.

At Printcrafters we have introduced the " Continuous Improvement Process " as a way to help us grow, produce more and produce it more efficiently by applying a three-pronged approach:

  • Ensure Consistent Quality
  • Embraces Employee Involvement in the process

Our Continuous Improvement Process focuses on product value to the consumer. It identifies value added activities, and eliminates nonvalue added activities. We are driven by customer needs, without artificial boundaries such as minimum re-order points, clerical data entry, and so on. We have identified material & information flows that are currently required to deliver a product or service. This activity highlights bottlenecks, work handoffs, lead-time, and where inventory lives, moves, and is used. The result is a pictorial of your current processes from start to finish and all parts in-between is a better understanding on how we can reduce or eliminate waste & improve flow. By continuing to perfect our implementation of the processes, we return to Step 1 & repeat the process for a cycle of continuous improvement.
